Pink Ribbon Girls Help Women Fighting Effects Of Cancer With Cleaning, Cooking, Errands

Annie Gottesman’s breast cancer diagnosis in February 2018 was the fourth blow she had endured in less than a year. Getting Help from the Pink Ribbon girls was her introduction to the cause.


Heather Salazar,"It’s hard to rely on friends and family for day-to-day needs. It’s hard to keep asking for help. And that’s for patients who have a network in place. Thirty percent of women with cancer don’t have a ride to treatment, Salazar says. About 1 in 8 U.S. families are already food-insecure before a diagnosis."


Salazar connected with a Cincinnati woman who ran a small cancer support group and shared her idea about providing clients with direct services. She wrote her first grant and started giving speeches to cancer survivors. She appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “Today.”
